NEW PIT GATE OPENING AND START TIMES AT RIVERHEAD IN 2010

During the recent Riverhead Raceway Competitors' Winter Meetings teams that participate in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's quarter mile facility were notified of new pit gate opening and start times for 2010. Riverhead will open for its 61st year of stock car racing with a doubleheader weekend May 1st and May 2nd.

Race teams and race fans should note that the pit gates will open at 11:00 am on May 1st.  On May 8th, 15th & 22nd the pit gates will open at 1:00 pm and for those first four weeks the feature events will start at 5:00 pm. Each of those first four weeks finds a busy race card being presented to kick-off the new season.

Starting with Saturday May 29th the pit gate opening will be moved back one hour to 2:00 pm, as will the start of the feature events which rolls back to a 6:00 pm start time. Practice times will be announced shortly, as will times for qualifying for the Saturday night programs. Heat races will not be held for any division unless there were 24-cars or more in a class. Spectator gates for Saturday night racing will continue to open at 3:00 pm.

The Sunday Enduro events will find no change in either their pit gate opening of 10:00 am, or the start of the feature event racing at 12:30 pm in 2010.  Enduros will enjoy the Sunday afternoon show to themselves as no stock car divisions are scheduled to race with them this year.

An exciting lid lifter of seven divisions will usher in the NASCAR season May 1st starting at 5:00 pm featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars.

The very next afternoon May 2nd will see the Enduro stars in the Grand, 8-Cylinder, 6-Cylinder, 4-Cylinder and 4/6-Cylinder Truck Enduro classes raise the curtain on 2010 starting at 12:30 pm, with the general admission gates to open at 12 noon.
