$5,000 BONUS & LAP MONEY PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR SARA SYLVESTER 50 INEX LEGEND RACE CAR NATIONAL QUALIFIER SATURDAY AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY

Wednesday evening Erin Delaney announced she has arranged a $5,000 bonus and lap money program for Saturday's Sara Sylvester INEX Legend Race Car National Qualifier 50 at Riverhead Raceway making the race the richest Legend event ever at the famed quarter mile. The 50-lap winner will earn $1,500 before lap money and other bonus monies are figured in. A complete program of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series racing will complement the Sara Sylvester 50, including a 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby which will also carry a hefty first place prize money.
Drawn to the INEX Legend Race Car division at Riverhead Raceway mainly because her brother Jim was a top competitor, Sara's passion turned from race fan to soliciting lap money for the annual INEX Legend Race Car National Qualifier 50 at Riverhead. Despite the race falling in the later portion of the schedule at Riverhead, Sara started her lap money fundraising in late spring to assure "her boys" would have extra money to compete for in their biggest race of the year. Sylvester later would turn her lap money talents to other signature races at Riverhead before her untimely passing in November of 2021. After Sara's passing, Erin Delaney stepped in for her friend knowing Sara's legacy should live on which it will Saturday with bonuses and lap money program Erin announced.
The Top Ten Finishers Award sponsored at $500 each by Sara's brother Jim, the Morabito Family of Benimax Trucking and a sponsor wishing to remain anonymous will distribute $500 to the race winner, while second through fifth receive $250, $200, $175 and $125. Sixth through tenth are worth $100 per position. Recently Erin put together the Amish Electric Race Winner bonus adding $500 for the winning team, Amish Electric sponsors several teams weekly at Riverhead. Add in $500 from the Riverhead Raceway purse from Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz and the race win settles in at $1,500 before lap, or any other bonus money earned is included.
Through her tireless effort Erin detailed other special awards up for grabs Saturday evening. Teams will attempt to win the $100 Natural Design Co. Pole Award in qualifying with popular NASCAR Modified talent Timmy Solomito also providing the race winning plaque from his Natural Design Co. The King Family Hard Charger Award $50 is backed by Billy King's family, Billy hoping for a good run Saturday. The Old Farms Construction Most Laps Led Award is worth $100 from Pat Moore & his team of cars, as is the Fastest Lap of the Race from John Ellwood of Iron Man Welding in Memory of Sonny & Shirley Densieski. Also, Ellwood & Iron Man Welding add a unique $100 Best Finishing Car After Pitting Award again in memory of Sonny & Shirley Densieski. A $50 Triola Family Racing "We Miss You Sara" Halfway Leader Awards has been added as has the Larry Murdock B Main Winner/Last Car to Qualify $75 bonus. Dennis Freese of Oval Speed has posted $100 for the Oval Speed Hard Luck Driver.
Additionally, several other awards have been disclosed for drivers either leading a certain lap or finishing in a certain position. The leader of lap 4, as well lap 40 will earn the $100 HighMark Building Efficiency bonus for each lap, while the HighMark Building Efficiency 4th Place Finisher Award is worth $200. HighMark also sponsors the Lucky Draw Award for $100, the race winner pulling a pill with the driver finishing in that position earning the bonus. The King Family will award the 25th place finisher a Framed 5x7 Picture from legend Mama Photos and add $25 for the 26th place finisher.
In concluding Erin Delaney disclosed the formula on how lap money would be paid per lap during the 50-lap event. The leader of each lap pockets, $12, $8 per circuit for second and $5 for third/ The fourth and fifth place drivers per lap earn $3 and $2. It should be noted that lap, bonus and purse money will not be paid until all cars have cleared ports race tech inspection with the exception of the Natural Design Co. Pole Award.
Also in action Saturday evening is the Late Models, TK Figure Eights, Mini Stocks, Truck Enduro, 4/6-Cylinder Enduro and the 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby. On Monday track GM John Ellwood disclosed he's been working with Demo teams across Long Island and has announced Riverhead Raceway will post $100 per car entered to the winner of the event. The more cars entered, the more the victory will be worth.
Opening ceremonies are set for approximately 6:15 PM, proceeded by qualifying. General admission gates open at 4:00 pm, adults $30, kids 6-12 $20, 5 & under free. The JuiceBox Racers will contest another exciting race right after opening ceremonies.
