DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND AT RIVERHEAD FEATURES I LOVE AMERICA NIGHT FIREWORKS SATURDAY, NASCAR MODIFIEDS SUNDAY

As the 2025 season hits the homestretch at Riverhead Raceway, the historic track is going to be a very busy place over the final two months of its 75th Anniversary season that kicks off with a doubleheader of racing excitement and family entertainment this Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Headlining the Saturday portion will be the annual I Love America Night Fireworks spectacular, while the NASCAR Modifieds take center stage in the Sunday matinee, the third attempt at running a program originally scheduled for June 7th.
Among the scheduling traditions Eddie & Connie Partridge along with nephew Tom Gatz kept intact after they purchased Riverhead Raceway in the summer of 2015 was to keep the I Love America Night presentation a staple in their annual schedule. As with past I Love America Night programs, a huge, patriotic Fireworks show will be presented during the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series card lighting up the late summer night sky.
On track excitement will be led by the Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds who'll go to post in a 25-lap feature as do the Late Models who return to action, while the Blunderbusts are set for a 20-lap feature event. INEX action will be plentiful as well led by a 20-lap INEX Legend Race Car feature with three INEX Bandolero events also joining in on the fun. Leading things off are the Beginners with their 10-lap main event which is followed by 15-lap features for the INEX Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws.
Opening ceremonies for Saturday are scheduled for 6:15 PM with a JuiceBox Racer kids race to follow. General admission opens at 4:00 PM, qualifying commences at 5:15 PM. Adults are $40, kids 6-12 are $20, 6 & under are free.
Hoping the old adage "third time is a charm" holds true on Sunday afternoon and the June 7th, twice rained out show can be entered into the record books. A 50-lap NASCAR Modified event will be cast in the starring role and are to be joined by the Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds as well the Blunderbusts, both classes running their second race in less than 24-hours. Also facing a quick turnaround are the four INEX sanction classes, with the Legend Race Cars, Bandolero Beginners, Bandits and Outlaws right back in action Sunday. The afternoon concludes with a 40-lap 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro.
Sunday's itinerary finds general admission windows opening at 12 noon, qualifying heat races go green at 1:15 PM with opening ceremonies one hour later at 2:15 PM. Sunday admission is $30 for adults, $20 for kids 6-12, 5 & under are free.
