Racing on the East End since 1951
Riverhead Raceway is a 1/4-mile high-banked asphalt oval located at 1797 Old Country Road in Riverhead, NY — the heartbeat of Long Island motorsports for over seven decades. Construction began in 1949, and the track opened for its first season in 1951 as a dirt oval. It was paved to asphalt in 1955 and has delivered close-quarters, wheel-to-wheel racing ever since.
The only NASCAR-sanctioned stock car racing facility in the New York metropolitan area, Riverhead Raceway is also the last remaining auto racing venue on Long Island since Westhampton Raceway closed in 2003. Racing runs on Saturday nights from May through October, drawing drivers and fans from across the tri-state region.
The track's history is woven through the Cromarty family, who owned and operated it from 1977 to 2015. Today, Riverhead Raceway is owned by Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz. Eddie Partridge co-owned the track from 2015 until his passing in September 2021, and his spirit lives on in every Saturday night program.
Past competitors who sharpened their skills here include NASCAR Cup veterans Steve Park, Greg Sacks, and Ryan Preece — proof that the racing at Riverhead is as real as it gets.

Remembering Eddie Partridge
Eddie Partridge, who passed away in September 2021, left an indelible mark on Riverhead Raceway and the entire racing community. As co-owner of the track since 2015, alongside his wife Connie and nephew Tom Gatz, Eddie's passion for racing transformed Riverhead Raceway into a cornerstone of motorsports excellence.
His final moments were perhaps the most fitting tribute to a life dedicated to racing - Eddie passed away shortly after celebrating his Modified team's victory at Richmond Raceway, with driver Ryan Preece at the wheel of his #6 modified. As NASCAR noted, "It is only fitting that Eddie's last race was a victory."
Eddie's impact extended far beyond the track. He was known for his generous spirit, his love for the racing community, and his dedication to preserving grassroots racing. Together with Connie, his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, they created a welcoming atmosphere that made Riverhead Raceway feel like home to racers and fans alike.
A true racing enthusiast, successful team owner, and beloved figure in the motorsports world, Eddie's legacy lives on through every race at Riverhead Raceway. His commitment to excellence, passion for the sport, and dedication to the racing community continue to inspire us all.
As we race forward, we honor Eddie's memory by maintaining the values he held dear: a love for racing, a commitment to community, and an unwavering dedication to the sport he loved. His spirit remains present in every checkered flag, every victory lane celebration, and every moment of racing excitement at Riverhead Raceway.
