RAIN WINS RIVERHEAD RACEWAY SATURDAY, SCOUT NIGHT MOVES TO AMERICA'S MILITARY SERVICE NIGHT FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR MAY 23RD

With a projected 90% or better chance of rain over Long Island Saturday, Riverhead Raceway management announced Friday afternoon the May 9th NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O'Reilly Auto Parts Scout Night program was rained out. While making the announcement, Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz revealed Scout Night will now join America's Military Service night Saturday May 23rd, complete with a Fireworks spectacular that was recently added.
"As the week wore on, the rain that was supposed to arrive Sunday kept moving up into Saturday." John Ellwood track GM reflected "and not only was the system moving faster, but it also came with a 90 plus percent chance of rain. With it being Mother's Day weekend and all, we felt it better to call the show Friday so families could perhaps make Saturday plans with Mom". Looking ahead Ellwood noted, our Scout Night offer now moves to the May 23rd America's Military Service Night salute". The divisions set to race May 9th will not have those races made-up.
When further discussing May 23rd, Ellwood was excited to announce another addition for the America's Military Service Night program, "we are adding a Fireworks spectacular for that night, we'll salute our military and welcome the long-awaited unofficial start of summer at Riverhead Raceway" Ellwood disclosed.
