RICHIE DAVIDOWITZ SHINES IN RIVERHEAD RACEWAY CRATE MODIFIEDS

Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches held off a late race challenge from rival AJ DeSantis of Yaphank to score the 25-lap Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified victory on Graduation Night at Riverhead Raceway. The win was an emotional one for Davidowitz and the Rat Pack Racing team he drives for after in Richie's words "the patriarch of our team" Joe Ratti passed away suddenly a few weeks back.
Davidowtz armed with the pole for the start of the race broke to the early lead with Kyle Ellwood, making his first start of 2026 racing his way under Andrew Farnham, the outside pole sitter for second. Over the first half of the contest Davidowitz and Ellwood ran one-two, but as they neared the halfway mark things changed in a hurry. Vinny Delaney who was moving in to challenge Ellwood for second got under Kyle off turn two on lap 12, suddenly Delaney's car got up on the left side wheels of Ellwood's machine with Vinny going for a wild ride. Both cars were done for the race; the drivers were uninjured. When the race resumed Davidowitz had a familiar face challenging his for the lead and win, AJ DeSantis. Over the final half of the race AJ chased Richie but it would be over the final five laps that DeSantis would really turn up the heat, gluing himself to the leaders rear bumper.
No matter what DeSantis threw Davidowitz's way Richie was equal to the task giving car owner Steve Ratti and his family a healing victory in the Rosemar Industries Chevy, afterwards the winner shared what his Rat Pack Racing team meant to him, "they mean the world to me, losing Joe suddenly was a huge shock to all of us". Quizzed on the late race challenge Richie, who marked his 10th career win with the triumph reflected, "same old song with AJ & me, we race really well together, I knew what moves were coming. He raced me hard, but clean".
AJ DeSantis was runner-up with his Strong Oil Sunoco Fuels Chevy, Michael Berner of Patchogue completed the podium with a third-place tally in the Drifters Kitchen entry. Andrew Farnham of Baldwin and rookie Thomas Grattan of Southold were fourth and fifth.
Any night you win a race is a good night, but some nights are better win than others. Such was the case for Super Pro Truck veteran Frank Dumicich Jr. of East Quogue who won his first 20-lap feature event of 2026 with a group of supporters from his sponsor Okpetroleummarketplace.com in the stands cheering him on. Sean Glennon and Erin Dumicich made up the front row of the grid, with Dumicich starting third. When the green lights came on Dumicich raced right under his sister Solomito off the second corner of the first lap to grab second behind Glennon. After riding behind Glennon over the first 9 circuits of the tilt, Dumicich pitched his truck under Gkennon entering the third corner to take the race lead as they received the halfway signal. Once he had his Okpetroleummarketplace.com Toyota out front Frank never looked back driving off to his 16th career win in the class while Sean Glennon of Northport brought the Glennon Construction entry home second. Mark Stewart of Riverhead drove the East End Building Tundra home for third place money.
Riely O'Keefe of Manorville went right back to his winning ways in the INEX Legend Race Car 20-lap feature event scoring his fourth win of 2026 in five races. O'Keefe who started the season winning the first three races before Richie Davidowitz stopped the O'Keefe express June 6th didn't let starting 10th in the 26-car field deter him from retuning to victory lane. Chevy Rommeney broke to the race lead at the throw of the green chased over the first four laps by Jim Sylvester. Ray Fitzgerald passed fellow veteran driver Sylvester for second on a double file restart to start the 5th lap, two laps later Ray would also work his way by Rommeney for the lead while O'Keefe in just five laps was already to third. O'Keefe got by Rommeney on the 8th laps for second and two laps later slid under Fitzgerald for the lead entering the first turn. Unfortunately for Fitzgerald his race went south with a spin after contact on lap 12, moving Jeff Farruggia Jr. to second. In the closing laps, Farruggia and Anthony Marsh swapped second which was just fine with leader Riely O'Keefe who drove to his 13th career win in the Joe Ryan Race Cars machine. Jeff Farruggia Jr. of Riverhead won the battle for second in the KMK Construction couple, with Anthony Marsh of Riverhead third in the Riverhead Trailer mount.
The 15-lap INEX Bandolero Outlaw event saw Tyler Oxee of Carmel put on as driving display reminiscent of his father Roger Oxee, the tracks all-time leading Late Model winner. Tyler, who won the opening day race for the class started 12th in the field and worked his way towards the front while Antonio D'Alonso and Thomas Grattan raced for the lead. Grattan got by for second on lap 3 but three laps later John Alaimo took the lead from Grattan. On lap 9 Alaimo went around dashing his hopes for a win. On the ensuing restart Tyler Oxee after driving from the rear of the starting grid put his North Fork Sanitation entry our front on lap 10 leading the final 5 circuits to post his 5th career victory. Michael Barry of Patchogue made a late race charge to second where he would finish in his Grease Garage Motorsports machine. John Alaimo of Miller Place undaunted by his spin rom the lead raced his way all the way back for third in the Turf King racer.
Mackenzie Ulmet of Mattituck crossed the line second in the 15-lap INEX Bandolero Bandit feature but would later discover she had won her 4th career race after a restart violation was called on the original race winner. Ulmet, the granddaughter of former Riverhead Raceway driver Wes Zaleski drives the Mark Davisd Builders Bandit and works on the car with her grandfather preparing it for competition. Wyatt Goodale of Riverhead was runner-up in the GAF Roofing Bandit, while his older brother Mason in the Riverhead Building Supply entry was placed third.
Alexis Gatz of Riverhead took home her first career INEX Bandolero Beginners victory in their 10-lap main event. Right from the drop of the green flag Alexis in her TS Haulers entry had the car to beat as she zipped out front cashed by Scarlett Dumicich. The two young ladies raced one-two for the entire 10-lap race distance with Alexis, daughter of Riverhead Raceway owner Tom Gatz enjoying his first career win. Scarlett Dumicich of East Quogue was second; James White III of Hampton Bays was third in the Blazing Bee Pest Control entry.
Joe Warren Jr. of Ridge used executed a perfect start in the 15-lap 4/6-Cylinder Figure Eight race to lead all the way in his Joe Warren Motorsports Cavalier for the victory. Warren was the 2020 track champion in the TK Figure Eights of the NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O'Reilly Auto Parts and knew just how to work the traffic at the crossover. Mike Mujsce Jr. of Hampton Bays was runner-up in his Mike's Auto Service machine, while John Palmeri of Lindenhurst brought the J&J Towing machine home third.
Chris Olivari of Coram survived a late race battle with Ryan Warren of Ridge to score the 40-lap 4/6-Cylinder Enduro victory. Newcomer Nicholas Harnage paced the race over the first 24-laps before veteran Eoughan Hayward passed him on lap 25. Hayward would soon be under attack from Chris Olivari who started deep in the field, with Ryan Warren in the mix as well. Over the closing laps Olivari and warren were going at it hard for the lead while lapping, of all people Chris's father David, who at times got in the way of his son allowing Warren to lead a lap or two. In the end however Chris Olivari would lap his dad, pass Warren for the lead and the win in his Middle Country Automotive entry just weeks after becoming a father himself. Ryan Warren was runner up in the Joe warren Motorsports Cavalier, Zach Tyler of Cutchogue placed third in the Miller & Caggiano Attorney at Law mount.
