EAGLE CHEVROLET CRATE MODIFIED 50, OVAL SPEED BUBBA 150 NASCAR MODIFIED EVENTS HIGHLIGHT FRIDAY/SATURDAY RIVERHEAD RACEWAY DOUBLEHEADER
A busy weekend of NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O'Reilly Auto Parts is lined up for this Friday July 24th and Saturday July 25th at historic Riverhead Raceway. Headlining the Friday night action are the Crate Modifieds who'll compete in the Eagle Chevrolet 50, while Saturday will find the 7th annual Oval Speed Bubba 150 NASCAR Modified event taking center stage. A bone jarring, car destroying Demolition Derby will bring the Saturday program to a smashing conclusion.
The Crate Modifieds will double their normal feature event distance Friday with the Eagle Chevrolet 50, their fifth race of 2026 in what has been a weather plagued season to date. Michael Berner of Patchogue has won two of the previous Eagle Crate Modified events including the most recent race. Berner and opening night winner AJ DeSantis of Yaphank will enter Friday racing tied atop the point standings with Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches, the only other 2026 winner just two back in third. Vinny Delaney of Islip Terrace, rookie Thomas Grattan of Southold, Dennis Kurras of Selden, Andrew Farnham of Baldwin, Ed Schutze of Oyster Bay, Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead and defending champion Eric Hersey of Commack will all be aiming for their first win of the season.
Joining the Eagle Chevrolet 50 Friday are the Blunderbusts, INEX Legend Race Cars, Street Stocks and an 8-Cylinder Enduro.
Originally slated for the final Saturday of June before weather stepped in, the 7th annual Oval Speed Bubba 150 Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified special steps into the spotlight Saturday evening. With over $14,000 in special award and lap money on the line, the Oval Speed Bubba 150 is the most lucrative regular season race of 2026. Chase Grennan of Glen Cove is the defending Bubba 150 winner and hopes to defend his 2025 victory. Older brother Owen Grennan of Glen Cove leads the 2026 championship chase into the 150 by four over Mark Stewart of Riverhead. Stewart won the 2026 Crown Jewel Series opener July 3rd when he scored the Flying Dutchman Tribute 76 victory. Chris Young of Calverton and Matt Brode of East Islip are knotted for third in the rankings, followed by Chase Grennan. Other top ten drivers seeking Bubba 150 success are Chris Rogers of Patchogue, Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead, Roger Turbush of Calverton, Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills and Cory Midgett of East Hampton.
Complementing the Oval Speed Bubba 150 Saturday are the Super Pro Trucks, Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars, three great INEX Bandolero features and a 4/6-Cylinder Figure Eight event.
Saturday will draw to a close with the second 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby of 2026 presented under the recently announced new Demo payoff formula. Riverhead Raceway is offering $100 per car to the winner's share of the Demo purse, capping at $1,500. Under the 15-car or more formula, $500 will be paid to the runner-up and $250 for third in these events. If a Demo field of 10 is on hand, the event will pay $1,000 to win, with second and third prorated accordingly.
Friday night general admission gates open at 6:30 PM with opening ceremonies planned for 8:00 PM, for Saturday it's a 5:00 PM opening for general admission with opening ceremonies set for 6:30 PM. General admission for both Friday and Saturday is adults $30, kids 6-12 $20, 5 & under free.
